The Weekly NFL Injury Report – FanDuel & DraftKings NFL DFS Implications – Week 3

Welcome to the Weekly NFL Injury Report. The purpose of this article is to break down the major injuries of the week and their daily fantasy implications. We will share the top players that are set to benefit from the injury, as well as those that should be downgraded where appropriate.

This article is part of our free weekly content program for the NFL DFS season.

This week we will be breaking down the major injuries of the week as their were some significant injuries that are really going to affect your week three contests.

This week was brutal on the injury front and we are going to do our best to make sure we hit every injury. With the amount of injuries this week we will also be switching up the format a bit. We are going to go over the injuries at each position and putting who will benefit from each injury next to each player.

Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garoppolo– Garoppolo is day to day with an injury to his throwing shoulder and is expected to miss Thursday’s night contest. This is going to leave the Patriots super thin at quarterback on a short week. The players that are going to benefit the most from this injury are LeGarrette Blount and the Texans Defense.

Josh McCown– The Browns lost yet another quarterback for the second week in a row to a major injury as McCown hurt his shoulder. McCown was able to finish the game and says he is going to be able to play in week three but I am taking a wait and see approach with McCown. If he is not able to suit up Isaiah Crowell and the Dolphins Defense will benefit.

Running Backs

We have seven major injuries to running backs so we are going to jump right into it.

Jonathan Stewart– Stewart suffered a hamstring injury against the 49ers and it looks like he is going to miss at least next week. If that is the case than Fozzy Whittaker who was great with 100 yards rushing in his place and Cam Newton will benefit the most.

Thomas Rawls– Rawls suffered some kind of lower leg injury in week two after doing nothing on the field. I think the Seahawks play it easy on Rawls this week after he was already recovering from a broken ankle and leave all the rushing duties to Christine Michael.

Danny Woodhead– Woodhead was a major injury as he was a very popular play in week two. It looks like Woodhead suffered a major knee injury and we will know more later on this week. I am willing to bet that he misses next week against the Colts which will leave a much improved Melvin Gordon a ton of carries.

Doug Martin– Martin was another back that suffered a hamstring injury and is most likely to miss next weeks action. If he is unable to play Charles Sims will be the main back for the Bucs but I would only want to target him in deep GPPs against a touch Rams defense.

Ameer Abdullah– Abdullah suffered a foot injury this week and was not able to return. We are not sure what the injury actually is or the severity of it but if he is not able to suit up Theo Riddick will get even more touches than normal.

Arian Foster– To know ones surprise Foster suffered yet another injury this time to his groin. I doubt that Foster is able to play next week and to be frank his career looks to be done even if he is able to return. In Foster’s absence it looks like the Dolphins second year back Jay Ajayi will finally get his chance to show what he can do.

Adrian Peterson– AP suffered a leg injury against the Packers and it looks to be serious. He was not able to put any weight on it and had to be carried off the field. We don’t know how long Peterson will be out but I really don’t see anyone benefiting from this injury. The Vikings will go to a running back by committee approach and defenses will be able to key in on the Vikings passing game now.

Wide receivers

Donte Moncrief– Moncrief took a big hit and suffered a head/neck injury that looks to be semi serious. Moncrief is likely to miss at least one week and that will mean more targets for Phillip Dorsett and Ty Hilton.

Doug Baldwin– Baldwin had to briefly leave the filed after injury his leg while blocking. He was able to return to the game after only missing two plays. I am not concerned with this injury at all and will deploy Baldwin as normal unless news breaks otherwise.

Tight Ends

No major injuries to discuss from the tight end position this week.
