MLB DFS Cheat Sheet & Detailed Rundown for FanDuel & DraftKings – Playoff Slate – October 14-15, 2016

We break down our top plays and analysis for the Playoff MLB DFS slate on FanDuel and DraftKings (October 14-15, 2016). Focusing on pitchers, hitters and strategy to help you win your MLB DFS contests for the slate.

With the 2016 MLB Regular Season in the books, it’s time for us to turn to the Playoffs and continue our MLB DFS talk.

FanDuel and DraftKings have some great contests (GPPs in particular) to take part in to continue battling it out on the diamond to win some DFS cash, and the Fantasy Cruncher team is here to help you do just that.

We shared a number of different columns with you every single day of the MLB season. The Pitching Rundown, Hitting Rundown, Cheat Sheet and Starting 5 are being condensed into a “one stop shop” article throughout the Playoffs.

I’ll be taking the lead on this column, going into the starters taking the mound for their respective clubs for each slate, and will provide some insight into the hitters/stacks to target as well.

With the slates being condensed thanks to a much smaller group of games at this point, we highly recommend that you focus your bankroll on GPPs if you’re into tournaments – or sitting back and relaxing until April if you’re a cash game baseball player.

FanDuel and DraftKings have continued to find ways to put together some contests for us to dabble in with some more MLB DFS action. We have another slate locking at just after 8pm EST tonight, featuring the 2 championship series games.

On Friday night it’s the Jays and Cleveland going at it, with the Dodgers and Cubs battling it out on Saturday night.

Games on the Slate

Toronto vs Cleveland (-140); Over/Under = 7.5 Runs

Los Angeles @ Chicago (-167); Over/Under = TBD Runs

High Level Strategic Thoughts

This will be a fairly typical 2-game slate, where you are going to need to pick the right hitters (and pretty much every single one of them that produce in a significant way) and couple them with the right arm(s) to find your way to cashing in GPPs. Again, this is not a day that I would play cash games – a little dabbling into tournaments can’t hurt if you want a little skin in the game, though.

You are likely best to play the multiple lineup strategy today, choosing the top 1 or 2 pitchers you like and coupling them with different combinations of bats.

For a slate like this, we won’t know the Dodgers or Cubs lineups before contests lock (FD). On DK, we can use the late swap feature to “flex” tomorrow night. But on FD, you need to figure out your rosters and lock them in for the entirety of the slate duration.

This could work to the more informed user’s advantage on FD, as ownership tendencies almost always follow the tendency to be more heavily skewed towards the games on the day(s) when the contest starts rather than the one following (or sometimes just later in the evening, for example). This really becomes a game regarding ownership, and you can’t go wrong at all if you choose to heavy up on the LAD/CHC matchup for this reason.
