We’re getting geared up for opening night in the NBA here at Moxyball. What better way to kick off the season with some daily fantasy basketball picks, strategy and lineup advice!
My goal is to share my daily picks, advice and strategy for DFS basketball players as often as possible. Today I’ll cover the lineup I’m playing in FanDuel contests and why I like each player in their respective games.
PG1: Jeremy Lin
Steve Nash is out for the year and Lin will be playing a key role for them on offense. He knows the Rockets system and will be a key cog in the rotation tonight, getting at least 30 minutes. It’s only game one but Lin should put some quality numbers up. I’m expecting about 15 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds and a steal. Decent value with what’s out there today considering there are only 3 games.
PG2: Tony Parker
Is going to get plenty of run early on in the year. The Spurs are down Patty Mills so the offense will rely on him even more. Like the value today as well.
SG1: James Harden
The big bopper of the day. Harden doesn’t need any introduction other than “he’s elite”. Should be a ton of points scored in this matchup and Harden could easily be the first 30-point man in the NBA for the 2014-2015 season. Ride him all the way to the bank.
SG2: Kobe Bryant
Clearly I’m going big at shooting guard today. By the way – check out the SG rankings if you haven’t already. Mamba is hungry to get back on the court and have a big year after missing so much action to injury the last couple seasons. Could easily put up 20/5/5 in game 1.
SF1: Tobias Harris
One of my favorite fantasy basketball sleepers heading into the year. If you missed them – check out our small forward and power forward rankings. You’ll see just how much I love Harris and what to expect. It’s a nice matchup for him in New Orleans for game 1.
SF2: Wesley Johnson
Injuries have paved the way for Johnson to get off to a nice start for the Lakers. He’s capable of putting up stats in all categories – so something in the mold of 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and a block in 22 minutes is pretty reasonable. Good value at his price today.

PF1: Terrence Jones
Had a great season last year and may very well break out further in 2014-2015. On a 3-game night there aren’t many options… but Jones is a guy I really like in this one.
PF2: Ryan Anderson
A bit hesitant to start him on opening night as it’s always tough to know what to expect with a guy in his situation. That being said, he can go off for 20 points at any given time and has a good chance at draining 3s at home against a very weak Orlando team. If he gets 25 minutes, we should easily see 15 points and 7 rebounds with a couple of 3s.

C: Jordan Hill
Didn’t love any of the options at center today outside of Dwight, but much preferred being able to run Harden and Bryant as my big bets. Hill will get plenty of run in LA this year – particularly opening night. I see him as a safe bet for close to 30 minutes ongoing and as a rebounding big man, he should be a double double machine all year. Expecting 12 points, 10 rebounds and a block out of him in this one.
